Now in its second year, the 2015 INFINITI Q50 sports sedan continues to build on its highly successful debut year. Along with outstanding sales, the dramatically styled sports sedan achieved a number of prestigious accolades, including being named a finalist for 2014 World Car of the Year and garnering an Edmunds.com "Top Rated Vehicle" award.
The 2014 Q50 also earned a Top Safety Pick+ award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and a 5-Star overall safety rating (when equipped with Forward Emergency Braking [FEB]) from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) under the agency's New Car Assessment Program (NCAP).
For 2015, enhancements include a new Performance Wheel Package, with 19-inch RAYS superlight forged aluminum-alloy wheels and 245/40R19 front / 265/35R19 rear summer tires, which helps add a higher level of handling performance while providing a unique, sporty appearance.
As in its inaugural year, the INFINITI Q50 combines distinctive design, engaging performance, world's first technologies and unmatched levels of connectivity and personalization. Taking many of its seductive styling cues from the INFINITI Essence concept, the Q50's tight, athletic appearance blends low, wide proportions with excellent interior roominess to a class marked by unexciting design.
Inside, the Q50 interior offers a driver-centric cockpit with an array of premium comfort and convenience features. The standard INFINITI InTouch™ communications system includes large dual touch-screen displays (8-inch upper, 7-inch lower) and puts communication with the outside world within easy reach, with integration of hands-free phone, moving map navigation, and entertainment systems*.
The Q50 also continues INFINITI's sports sedan performance leadership, offering a choice of a refined 328-horsepower 3.7-liter V6 or Direct Response Hybrid® System with Intelligent Dual Clutch Control. The Hybrid system combines a 3.5-liter 24-valve DOHC aluminum-alloy V6 and compact laminated lithium-ion battery design with an innovative one-motor/two-clutch motor control. The system's V6 is rated at 302 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, while the advanced 50 kW electric motor is rated at 67 horsepower and 214 lb-ft of torque. Net power is 360 horsepower, providing strong acceleration and lean fuel economy.
All 2015 Q50 models come equipped with a refined 7-speed automatic transmission with available solid magnesium paddle shifters. The INFINITI Drive Mode Selector with Snow, Eco, Standard, Sport and Personal settings is also standard on all models, part of the INFINITI InTuition™ System, an advanced customizable digital environment system that allows drivers to create unique settings for engine, suspension and steering (when equipped with INFINITI Direct Adaptive Steering™) settings.
Three world's first production performance technologies are available in the Q50 – INFINITI Direct Adaptive Steering™ technology, Active Lane Control™ and Predictive Forward Collision Warning (PFCW). The Direct Adaptive Steering™ steering system allows advanced control of the Q50's tire angle and steering inputs, transmitting the driver's input to the wheels faster than a mechanical system. Four different steering settings are offered, allowing customization by driver preference or road conditions.
The Active Lane Control™ uses a camera-based lane marker detection system to help the driver make fewer steering corrections on freeways. The Predictive Forward Collision Warning (PFCW) system warns the driver of risks that may be obstructed from the driver's view. It not only can sense the relative velocity and distance of a vehicle directly ahead, but also of a vehicle travelling in front of the preceding one and can provide a warning to the driver if it senses a potential forward collision.
The 2015 INFINITI Q50 3.7-liter V6 and 3.5-liter Hybrid models are available with a choice of rear-wheel drive or Intelligent All-Wheel Drive, and in a range of well-equipped models, including versions with special sport appearance and performance features with sport brakes and sport suspension tuning.
