Q30 features a host of intuitive technologies that enhance the car's driving experience, while providing maximum safety to all occupants. With a brief to create a refined, enjoyable atmosphere in the cabin, technical teams behind the introduction of new technologies to Q30 sought to make the latest innovations as seamless, easy and intuitive to use as possible.
The latest safety technology fitted to Q30 includes:
- Blind Spot Warning, warning of other vehicles in neighbouring lanes hidden in the driver's blind spots
- Forward Collision Warning with Forward Emergency Braking, reducing the stress of driving in heavy traffic or in the city by alerting the driver of hazards in the road ahead – and taking automatic action to help avoid or mitigate the effects of a collision
- Auto High Beam Assist, a highly-intuitive technology that improves safety and confidence during night-time driving by automatically dipping headlamps to avoid 'blinding' cars driving in the opposite direction
- Intelligent Cruise Control, maintaining a safe distance from the car in front for a safe and relaxing drive
A special metal plating method applied to the INFINITI badge on the Q30's front grille allows the radar waves of the Intelligent Cruise Control system to pass through the badge itself. This technology – used here for the very first time by INFINITI – 'de-clutters' the front of the car, and effectively hides the radar hardware from view.
The INFINITI Q30 will be the easiest car to park among rivals in the premium compact segment thanks to Automatic Park Assist, which helps guide the car into parallel spaces and designated parking bays in a car park. Parking is made even easier with the addition of a new Around View Monitor, with moving object detection, using four wide-angle lenses – one on each side of the vehicle – to create a 'birds-eye' view on the centre console and give drivers a clear picture of nearby hazards during low-speed manoeuvres.
In addition to these assistive features, the Q30 lets users tailor their INFINITI to best suit conditions and their own preferences. With the dual-clutch transmission, the Drive Mode Selector allows drivers to alter the characteristics of their car, offering Standard, Eco and Sport modes. This adjusts engine and transmissions settings to allow for greater self-expression and driving style behind the wheel – varying from even more instantaneous responses from the powertrain for drivers 'pressing on', to a more cautious power delivery to enable greater fuel economy.
INFINITI's trademark InTouch infotainment system, first introduced on the Q50, has been evolved and upgraded for the Q30, delivering an intuitive, tablet-like experience from the driver's seat via a touch-screen HMI (human machine interface). Using a 7.0-inch touchscreen display at the centre of the console, the infotainment system offers drivers and occupants a wide range of InTouch apps to make the journey safer and more enjoyable.
Depending on market, InTouch allows owners to access their calendar, email and social media channels, while providing driving performance data to give an overview of fuel consumption, time and other trip information. An Intelligent-View display shows key information to the driver through the instrument binnacle, within the driver's line of sight, while Bluetooth hands-free connectivity also helps to minimise distractions and encourage drivers to keep their eyes on the road ahead.
INFINITI InTouch boasts the company's latest turn-by-turn navigation system, which can be upgraded to feature NavTraffic, offering real-time information on traffic, and NavWeather, which shows up to a three-day weather forecast. INFINITI Voice Recognition can interact with the InTouch infotainment system to control audio and navigation commands.
