  • Shibata says he chose to compete with INFINITI Q60 after seeking the ‘best-looking' racer from all over the world
  • Expert driver Koudai Sobagiri showcases his talent on specially prepared course near INFINITI's global headquarters in Yokohama

YOKOHAMA, Japan – Showcasing the passion and enthusiasm for the brand, INFINITI today releases a high-powered, thrilling ride filmed in Japan in February. The production features a heavily modified INFINITI Q60, imported from America and hand-built by a passionate team to compete at the highest ranks domestically.

The film, which showcases renowned restoration specialist Tatsuhiro Shibata and his driver, Koudai Sobagiri, is all exceptional driving skills and heart-stopping action.

"In my eyes, the Q60 was the best looking of (the INFINITI lineup), but they didn't sell any in Japan. So we had to go to the U.S. to find one," Shibata says. "It's simple; I just wanted a good-looking racing car."

Shibata has imported INFINITI vehicles into Japan for personal use for roughly 10 years. He built his Q60 drift car as an expression of his passion for the brand. Shibata is not directly affiliated with INFINITI.

The film shows the Shibata Drift Racing Team's heart-stopping INFINITI Q60 on a closed course near Yokohama Harbor, in the expert hands of Sobagiri. Following the film, INFINITI plans to release an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the film and the Shibata INFINITI Q60. An exclusive story about Shibata's workshop, Sobagiri's path to drifting, and more will be released along with the behind-the-scenes film.
