SHANGHAI, CHINA – Daring and bold begin a new generation for INFINITI in China.

Today at Auto Shanghai 2021, the automaker announces the all-new 2022 INFINITI QX55 will go on sale next year in China, which marks a new era for the luxury brand in one of its cornerstone markets.

"The daring 2022 INFINITI QX55 begins a new chapter for our brand in a key market" said INFINITI Chairman Peyman Kargar. "With the all-new QX55, we reach back to one of our most iconic shapes and bring it forward to a new generation of drivers. Its standout exterior is really only rivaled by its gorgeous interior, and we're honored to bring it to China."

"For our unique and special customers in China, we're bringing an equally unique and special INFINITI QX55 crossover next year," said Managing Director INFINITI China Kevin Mao. "Its vibrant exterior foreshadows its decadent interior. No matter where it goes, the QX55 stands out among the crowd."

"Two crossovers coming next year signal an exciting evolution for INFINITI," said Executive Vice President of Dongfeng INFINITI Motor Co. Gao Zhenghao. "The all-new QX55 sets the right tone for some of what's coming: unapologetically authentic, stylish, and functional crossovers. The time for the QX55 in our market has never been better."

Provocative shape, productive interior

Returning to the segment it created nearly 20 years ago, INFINITI's sexy and daring QX55 crossover will be comprehensively equipped with technology and connectivity features when it arrives next year in retailers across China. Combining the breathtaking style and iconic shape created by the INFINITI FX, and powered by an innovative variable-compression turbocharged engine, the all-new INFINITI QX55 is a head-turner from end to end.

The drama begins up front, with INFINITI's signature double-arch grille with an origami-inspired mesh pattern flanked by brilliant LED headlights that mimic focused human eyes. The fog lights are deeply set and surrounded by gloss black angular accents that bracket the QX55's lower face and deliver a confident first impression. The hood line above is clean and graceful, with a powerful presence that's unmistakable. Elegant lines sweep over the front fenders and arch down the body sides that, paired with the iconic and provocatively fast roofline, give the all-new INFINITI QX55 exceptional curb appeal. Dressed in a scintillating Dynamic Sunstone Red exterior color, the QX55 commands attention wherever it goes.

"The arched roofline and dynamic exterior of the INFINITI QX55 are expressive and athletic. We positioned the visual mass of the car low on the body to accentuate the dynamic look. A high belt line and sleek greenhouse add to that presence," said INFINITI Head of Design Taisuke Nakamura. "Our intention to create a crossover-coupe came naturally; the lines of the iconic INFINITI FX never went out of style. In the all-new QX55, we merely reimagined that iconic silhouette for a new generation."

At the back of the all-new crossover, the QX55 features striking "digital piano key" taillights comprised of 45 individual LEDs in each light. Every QX55 is equipped with a power liftgate that's activated by touching the INFINITI logo at the rear, preserving the clean shape and athletic stance from the back. The lower rear fascia is body-colored, and dual exhaust outlets underscore the QX55's muscularity without sacrificing its elegance.

The all-new QX55 carries forward the torch of provocative style in a crossover, paired with a highly functional interior, which INFINITI pioneered with the groundbreaking FX nearly 20 years ago. The fast roofline and expressive themes outside don't eschew fashionability for functionality; the QX55's organic themes and dramatic shapes are symbiotic. Available 20-inch wheels elegantly fill the wheel arches without distracting from the graceful curves above. The racy roofline still affords exceptional space inside.

Indeed, the exterior's svelte and inspired shape belies its spacious and functional but equally sexy interior. A driver-centric layout hints at the QX55's engaging dynamics and ensures everything the driver needs is easily within reach. Ergonomically designed, "zero gravity" front seats promise comfort over longer drives and provide a commanding view of the road ahead. Sliding second-row seats maximize interior space for passengers or cargo, depending on need. While dimensions for QX55s sold in China will be confirmed closer to market launch next year, in the U.S. the QX55 offers up to 98.3 centimeters of rear seat legroom or up to 761.7 liters of cargo space behind the second row.

Premium materials adorn the interior including available, supple semi-aniline leather-appointed seats. The driver-centric layout is crafted with cues to enhance the driving experience; the asymmetric, wide layout highlights a feature line on the center armrest that flows up around the infotainment system.

The QX55's "tailored artistry" inside continues with exceptionally rich, soft-touch materials throughout the cabin including the graceful upper dash, stitched-leather steering wheel, and dark aluminum trim. Despite its roofline and evocative exterior shape, passengers in the front and rear are afforded excellent headroom and comfort throughout the cabin.

Pricing and available features for the all-new INFINITI QX55 will be announced closer to market launch in China next year.
