The INFINITI QX60 luxury crossover, INFINITI's second best-selling model after the Q50 sport sedan, received a significant makeover for 2016 – starting with a redesigned exterior appearance, enhanced dynamic performance and the addition of Predictive Forward Collision Warning and Forward Emergency Braking with pedestrian detection. The enhancements continue for the 2017 model year in a big way – the 3.5-liter V6 engine was revised with direct injection to offer 295 horsepower (up from 265) and 270 lb-ft of torque (up from 248).
The new QX60 engine utilizes more than 50 percent new or new-to-QX60 engine parts and components, including combustion chamber design, pistons, intake manifold and e-VTC (fully electronic on intake). The engine's Direct Injection Gasoline™ (DIG) system – which is also utilized on the all-new Q60 Sports Coupe's 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6, as well as the powerful QX80 full-size SUV's 5.6-liter V8 – provides better wide-open-throttle performance and emissions performance (versus a non-direct-injection system). The engine is matched with a continuously variable transmission for enhanced fuel efficiency.
The 2017 QX60 is also available with a hybrid drivetrain, featuring a supercharged 2.5-liter inline 4-cylinder and an electric motor powered by a compact Lithium-ion battery pack. Other changes for 2017 include the addition of INFINITI InTouchÔ, with 8.0-inch color vehicle information display, to all models, while a Motion Activated Liftgate and High-Beam Assist are available with the Deluxe Technology Package. The Theater Package is revised with larger screens (8.0-inch versus the previous 7.0-inch) and the addition of one HDMI port.
The QX60 exterior again fully embodies INFINITI's dramatic design language, including signature grille, headlamps, LED daytime running lights and LED fog lights. Other exterior details range from integrated LED turn signals in the side rearview mirrors to attractive 18-inch and 20-inch wheel designs.
On the inside, the 2017 QX60 features graphite-weave interior accents, stitched upper dash and a shift lever shared with the new Q60 coupe. The QX60 continues to offer real 7-pasenger/3-row utility, plus all the premium features, performance and innovations that INFINITI has become known for worldwide.
Among the advanced standard or available technology are a Bose® 13-speaker Premium Audio system, including AM/FM/CD/DVD with MP3 playback capability, Radio Data System (RDS) and speed-sensitive volume control. A Bose® Cabin Surround® 15-speaker sound system with digital 5.1-channel decoding is also available.
